Meet the Teacher

My name is Elaina Higgins and I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year! This will be my fifth year teaching and my first year at Pelham Elementary School. I am thrilled to be a part of such a welcoming community and I look forward to sharing my first school year at PES with you and your child.

I have been teaching in Massachusetts for the past four years, and recently bought a house in Salem New Hampshire with my husband shortly after we were married. I met my husband, Matt, in Pennsylvania when I was in school for my bachelor's degree in education. After moving back to my home state of Massachusetts, I decided to re-enroll in school and received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern New Hampshire University.

My husband and I live with our energetic dog, Beckett and our lovable cat, Bradley. They are both rescues, and oddly enough, have the exact same colorings! I like to share funny stories and pictures of my pets, so I am sure you will be hearing their names from your child as the year goes on 😀

In my spare time, I love to take Beckett for hikes, read a good book on the beach, and create/cook different recipes to try. I have loved living in New Hampshire this past year and I am very excited to be teaching in such a wonderful district in this state. I love to make learning fun and it is my goal for your child to always be excited about what we do in first grade. I find it beneficial to use whole-body learning where students acquire knowledge physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Our classroom is a safe and welcoming space where we have opportunities for flexible seating, technology integration, and most of all, a strong appreciation for our peers. I am looking forward to this year together and I cannot wait to meet you and your child very soon!
